Mama said there'd be days like this...
Yesterday was one of THOSE days. I have to back up a bit to set this up for you...
Wednesday, Ry had to stop in Roosevelt to pick up some file cabinets for the office, but our truck has a couple of railroad ties in the back for winter weight, so he had to push those to the side. That's how he hurt his back...badly. So he came home that afternoon and went straight to the chiropractor. Then Thursday morning he went for a massage. He still felt horrible. Painkillers didn't help much, which brings us to yesterday.
I woke up at about 6:30 to feed the baby. We were sitting there doing our thing when I heard dishes crashing in the kitchen. I was nervous, wondering if Ryan might have fallen or something, so I just picked up the baby and went to check. I found Ry over the sink, feeling like he was gonna be sick. He had moved the dishes to one side, which was the crashing I heard. He pulled himself up and made a comment about no more painkillers on an empty stomach, and said he needed to lie down. I notice he had no color, and wish I had told him to lie down right there.
He made it to the doorway between the dining room and the living room and fainted dead away. Scared me to death. Since I had the baby, all I could do was watch as he went down, smacking his upper back and head on the vacuum cleaner, which pushed back into an end table and into the couch. At least he didn't land on the tile. I put the baby down quickly and went over to Ryan to ease him onto the carpet. He startled as he came around, but thankfully, he realized pretty quickly what had happened. I told him to just lay still for a while.
Becca heard all the commotion and came out of her room to see what was up. I'm sure seeing just her daddy's legs sticking out from the living room was not a fun sight. I heard her coming and leaned around the corner to tell her it was okay, Daddy was fine. She snuggled up next to him on the floor for a few minutes. What a way to start the day! And it nearly happened again about an hour later, but he made it back to the bed that time. So, Ry spent the day in pain from his injury and his fall.
Later, Becca was trying to get a little dish of salsa when she dropped a small pyrex custard dish on the tile floor. Glass EVERYWHERE! It was amazing how far and wide that glass managed to shatter. So I got to clean that up for the next hour.
Then at some point in the day, the toilet got clogged. We're talking major over-flowage here, people. It took almost every towel in my house - GROSS!! Which led to major loads of hot laundry with extra soap. And being the germaphobe I am, that bathroom got scrubbed three times. And then we had to wait for a plumber, who didn't make it here till this morning. (Yes, I tried unclogging it myself for several hours. It was hopeless.) It's a good thing my parents live across the street. (Thanks!)
So, there you have it. Today, the laundry is done, the floors are CLEAN, the toilet is working, but Ry is still hurting. And...is that rain I hear? Oh, lovely. Well, I guess I better hit the store before the roads turn to ice...
