Week 69: Trio!
I love these happy emails!
Hi Mom!!!
My week was super duper, again!! Is it normal to have this many good weeks in a row? ;)
Here's the rundown!! Monday evening we went out to Dryden and met briefly with a few people. No full lessons, but we did find a little girl that said she wanted to learn more. Her name is Madison. :)
On Tuesday we served at FoodNet in the morning, and did a ton of contacting in the afternoon. That's when we got transfer calls and got the news that Sister Sessions and I are both staying in Ithaca!!! YAY! We're excited. That night we had a great lesson with Sister Koltko's grandson, Arthur. We taught him what the scriptures are and shared the story of Samuel the Lamanite. It was a lot of fun.
Thursday we got a bunch of free food from the South Elders apartment because they merged that area and closed their apartment. So that's crazy! Now we are working on redefining our area boundaries and the Downtown Elders just got a lot more ground to cover. We get a little bit more too. That's the night we had a lesson with Eric. We met him at the park and we had a really deep, spiritual lesson. We wanted to finally put him on date for baptism, so we spent the whole time going over any questions, concerns, doubts, fears, anything that was standing in his way of baptism. We had a great discussion, definitely needed some guidance from the Spirit. By the end, we committed him to baptism on August 10!!!! He got a little emotional when he said yes and so we did too! WE'RE SO EXCITED!!! Eric is such a good guy. He had his interview yesterday and was cleared for baptism. WOOHOO!
Friday we woke up late because someone didn't set the alarm. I wasn't too happy, but we are both responsible for it, so I also felt super guilty. Not a great morning. That night we met with Harold and Melissa and had a great lesson! We were talking about the ten commandments and ended up stopping and talking for a long time about keeping the Sabbath Day holy. They weren't able to make it to church on Sunday and we just really want to get them there. It was a good conversation and they committed to come next week. Pray that they make it!!!
Saturday we did a lot of walking. We had a fun dinner appointment with the Ruesches. They are a newlywed couple in the branch and we were just laughing so hard. That night we also found a new lady to teach that evening. The Lord keeps blessing this area in abundance.
Sunday was great!! We had quite a few of our people at church and that was when Eric had his interview and passed. That made for a great day! Then the bomb dropped... ready for some crazy news?
That evening we got a call from President Vest. He let Sister Vest talk to us for a minute and then he took the phone back and said that he read both of our emails to him and that we sound so happy and he is proud of us. Then he asked if we would be willing to have another sister come join us for the rest of the transfer. WHAT. So, we are becoming a trio for the next few weeks. CRAZY!! I've never been in a trio and I'm not sure how this will all work!! AH! But I honestly felt really good about it at the same time. He said we would be joined by Sister Hunt sometime on Monday (today.) I've met Sister Hunt briefly at zone conferences before and she seems super sweet. So we're excited. Last night we started cleaning the apartment and making room. I moved all my stuff out of the bedroom and into the front coat closet and the drawers in the front room.
So this morning we continued to work on the apartment and got it a sparkly clean. We don't know when she will be joining us, but I'll try and send a pic if she joins us before 6. Should be interesting!!!
I'm excited to talk to you today!! I love you SOOOO much!!!

And here's the group email!
Good Morning!
Are you tired of hearing that I had a fantastic week here in Ithaca? Because I'm certainly not tired of having fantastic weeks in Ithaca! In fact, we had transfers on Wednesday, but we must be having such a good time that the Lord has let us both stay here! We did receive some crazy news last night though... a third sister will be joining us today and we will be in a trio!!! Crazy! I have never been in a trio before (except for a couple of exchanges) so I thought I would be nervous about it, but I'm excited! So is Sister Sessions. So we've already been making room in the apartment and have an air mattress all ready for Sister Hunt. :D
THE most exciting news for this week... Eric has decided to be baptized in just a couple of weeks!!! We had an incredible, spiritual lesson with him on Thursday, and yesterday we finalized everything. So now we have a lot to do before August 10th! We are so excited for Eric. He is such a sweet guy and had been preparing for this day for a while. Eric is excited too and he has a ton of friends in the ward.
We had a great lesson with Harold and Melissa this week. They are both praying about the Book of Mormon and are feeling really good about it. They are so fun to talk with. We love them a ton! And we of course so some incredible miracles this week. I love this mission!
Hope you all have a wonderful week!
