Week 48: Only 31 weeks to go!
The time really is going faster now, though, and it's funny how quickly we are getting used to talking to each other every week. The challenge for our little family, and probably others, will be to not abuse the privilege by talking too long or talking about every little life detail in a way that might be distracting to our missionary. We're still learning, and we're loving it! Here's a snippet or two from my email from Becca:
This week was just plain weird, haha. It seemed kind of boring and forever long. We did all the same stuff. We did have some really awesome lessons with Jay and Lauren + Karen. And we had church this week! That helps SO much. It was a looong two weeks. We saw some sunshine a couple of times this week. New Yorkers are solar-powered. They all come out of their caves and go shopping, wash the car, smile and laugh. It's kind of hilarious. And I've realized how solar-powered I am too. π
...Happy Eleven months, by the way! πππππ
We had exchanges this week. Both sisters came to our area, so there were four sisters in the area at one time. It was awesome. I was with Sister White most on the time and we had a good time. We took them out to eat for lunch and then we had two meal appointments for dinner, so we split up and covered both! We have had loads of good food this week. I love food.
And here's the group email:
Hello!
I hope this week has been good for you! Is it feeling like spring yet? Because it's not up here, haha.
This week has been pretty run-of-the-mill for us, but it was good. We had some awesome lessons with Jay and Lauren + Karen this week. We had exchanges with the Massena sisters on Tuesday. That was a lot of fun! We were so busy for 24 hours. Well we are always busy but we had double the amount happening. And we had to try an figure out how to fit four sisters in our tiny apartment! We made it work, haha.
Let's see, this week while on one of our long walks to the university we figured out how to speak like men. Haha. Sister Hamblin is much better at it than I am and has already freaked a couple people out. We went at got our tires changed at a really dumpy car place in Potsdam. That oddly threw the rest of our day off. On Saturday we got to go to a friend's gospel choir concert. That was pretty cool. It was fun to see people praising God and having fun.
Even with a seemingly average week, we still saw lots of miracles. They can be small sometimes, but if we pay attention we see things happen almost every day that we know wouldn't have happened if God had intervened. It's also a lot of fun to see people begin to feel the Holy Spirit in their lives. Being a missionary is so fun.
I hope you all have a great week!
